Gemstone Stud is a small rattery run by myself, Gemma. I have been keeping rats for most of my life, over 25 years now. I began showing about 5-10 years after that and eventually made the decision to breed.  The decision to breed followed years of careful thought and I now choose to dedicate my spare time and effort to improving the varieties of rats I have chosen.

My main aims include improving health, longevity and maintaining good temperaments of the rats I breed. Secondary to this I aim to breed rats that meet the standard for the varieties I breed as exhibition animals.

Showing, for me, has been invaluable to ensure that the rats I breed remain close to the show standard, exhibit good health and temperaments. Showing within the National Fancy Rat Society also enables me to remain in touch with a network of other keepers and breeders. I am a qualified assessor judge for the NFRS and have been lucky enough to experience judging all over the UK and abroad.

I am committed to supporting new owners, past owners and those who would like to learn more about my rats, rats in general, showing and everything in between.
